投げるように描かれた線と、精密描写のコラージュ。
大判のドローイングから、会場全体をラッピングするようなデジタル作品など、合わせて50点以上を展示・空間演出します。
会場構成は立体集団ガリネル。会期中は会場にアトリエを再現し、制作を行います。
「Ribbon」という言葉には、放たれた線のイメージと、その語源の一つに「あばら（rib）」があるという説を重ねています。
心臓や肺といった生命の中枢を守るあばら骨のように、作家の内面を守るために生まれた衝動的なライン。
作為と無作為を重ね、新たな視覚世界を探る制作となりました。
This year, Osaka Art & Design 2026 marks my second participation in the festival with a new exhibition titled Drawing Ribbon.
The exhibition presents over 50 works, ranging from large-scale drawings and collages to digital installations that expand across and wrap the entire venue. The spatial design is created in collaboration with GullineL, and during the exhibition period, an atelier will be recreated inside the space, where I will continue drawing and producing new works live.
Drawing Ribbon is built upon the contrast between impulsive, thrown lines and meticulously rendered imagery—flowers, trees, and living forms—layered together through collage.
The word “Ribbon” carries a double meaning in this exhibition: it evokes the image of lines being cast outward, while also echoing one of its etymological roots, rib. Like ribs protecting the heart and lungs—the vital center of the body—these spontaneous lines emerge as a way of protecting the artist’s inner world.
Through the layering of intention and chance, the work explores the emergence of a new visual landscape.
牧かほりの作品の根底には、日本絵画に通底する平面的な感覚がある。
モチーフを断片化し、再配置し、編集することで、新たな画面世界を立ち上げる。
その感覚に強く惹かれ、制作を続けてきた。
本展のドローイングの多くは、投げるような感覚で描かれている。
放たれた線は、意図と偶然のあいだを行き来しながら、予測できない軌跡を生み出していく。
そこには衝動から生まれる、一回性の強度が宿る。
一方で、画面にコラージュされる花や卵、生物の細密描写は、長い時間をかけた観察と集中によって生まれる。
衝動によって生まれる線と、凝視によって生まれる描写。瞬間と持続。動と静。
この二つの感覚は、牧かほりの日常の中にも自然に同居している。
ささやきと叫び。大河のように在ろうとしながら、個性的な一滴に執着する。
翻弄され、奔走し、相反するものはいつも日々の中に共存している。
「Drawing Ribbon」 は、その感覚を象徴する展覧会である。

作為と無作為を重ねながら、生成し続ける視覚世界をさぐる試みである。
At the foundation of Kahori Maki’s work lies a distinctly planar sensibility rooted in Japanese painting.
By fragmenting, rearranging, and editing motifs,
she constructs new pictorial worlds. Drawn deeply to this sensibility,
she has continued her practice through it.
Many of the drawings in this exhibition are created with a feeling of throwing. The released lines move between intention and chance, generating unpredictable trajectories. Within them resides the intensity of singular gestures born from impulse.
In contrast, the highly detailed depictions of flowers, eggs, and living forms collaged into the works emerge through long periods of observation and concentration. Lines born from impulse, and images born from sustained gazing. Moment and duration. Motion and stillness.
These two sensibilities coexist naturally within Kahori Maki’s daily life as well. Whispers and cries. Attempting to exist like a great river, while remaining devoted to a single distinct drop.
Being tossed about, rushing forward — opposing forces constantly coexist within everyday life.
“Drawing Ribbon” is an exhibition that embodies these sensations.
The title “Ribbon” evokes both the image of released lines and the theory that one origin of the word comes from “rib.”
Like ribs protecting vital organs such as the heart and lungs, these lines are born as if to protect the desire to express.
Layering intention and non-intention, the work explores a visual world that continues to generate itself.
