"ZA"

Close your eyes and be in space.

This tearoom with its "circle, triangle, and square"
- said to be a view of space in Zen - was planned under the direction of tea ceremony master Soshin Kimura.
We are in charge of the triangular tearoom.

It is arranged around the traditional Japanese-style mirror (wakyou) of Akihisa Yamamoto, Japan's only craftsperson of this art.
The wakyou is made of polished copper, not glass. The weighty presence of its reflected light was something we had never seen before.
The space around the mirror is lined with inverted motifs that propose turning the happenings of society upside down at times.Removing the "ga" (self) from the center of "kagami" (mirror), what remains is "kami" (gods).
As objects venerated in shrines, mirrors provide the lesson that gods reside within the self.

This is a space for sitting, closing your eyes, and facing up to yourself.
